Shringar Exhibition, in association with The Telegraph, held earlier this month was interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee’s first solo exhibition. The two-day fashion and lifestyle exhibition, held at Zoom Tea-o-graphy, featured an eclectic and unique collection of dhotis, scarves, coasters, batuas and much more. Upholding themes of nature and sustainability, the exhibition was all about bright colours and pertinent motifs. It also had a special corner dedicated to master filmmaker Mrinal Sen to celebrate his birth centenary. Snapshots:

“Each piece at this exhibition is unique and truly exclusive, which makes it really interesting. The dedication to Mrinal Sen is probably the USP of the exhibition and I am glad to see his works and legacy being highlighted in this manner so that it can reach out to everyone who is interested,” said Tota Roy Choudhury.

“My overall message through Shringar, which is my first solo exhibition and my tribute to master filmmaker Mrinal Sen, is an effort to create a line of consumer merchandise because this is probably how the next generation will get to know about Mrinal Sen and his works. Whenever I have travelled to film festivals outside India, I have seen how revered he is, vis a vis any other filmmaker if not more, which is why I wanted to organise this tribute. The other message through my exhibition is genderneutral and sustainable clothing and jewellery,” said Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee.

This colourful corner displayed embroidered batuas that were compact, utilitarian and pretty. Their floral motifs were an ode to the season as well as to nature at large.
