It is video-editing apps like LumaFusion that bring out the best in the very powerful iPad. Support for six video tracks and six audio-only tracks? Check. Complicated mobile video editing? Check. The video tool is now available on Android and ChromeOS devices following an early access beta in November last year.

LumaFusion offers editing features like green screen and chroma key VFX effects, a magnetic timeline, colour correction tools, and more to Chromebooks and Android tablets and phones.

“We’re really proud to be an independent self-funded company without any investors to please and that means we can move quickly as the needs of our community grow and change. I think that’s really reflected in LumaFusion,” Chris Demiris (co-founder, engineering) of Luma Touch, told t2 in December 2021.

The developer LumaTouch claims that over 68 million project exports have been completed since its launch in 2016.

“When we released LumaFusion in 2016, there were just three of us. Since then, we’ve grown to a team of 18 amazingly creative people with backgrounds in video, art and music, and we found that it’s only with a happy team and constant communication that we can create the best results for our users. When we started the LumaFusion we made a conscious decision not to package creativity only into canned templates and effects. Everything in LumaFusion is 100 per cent customisable or can be built from scratch,” said Chris.

LumaTouch didn’t port everything over to Android, instead, it got a team of developers to bring the software to life on Android. It also optimised the software to take advantage of the unique capabilities of Chromebooks and Android phones and tablets.
