Eshaani Jayaswal’s ‘Garden of Delights’ weaves in romance and an element of fantasy through its primarily pastel palette and soft hues. Lehngas, saris and smart separates make up the range. Eshaani decodes the collection for The Telegraph.

The mood: The collection endeavours to capture a contemporary and fleeting moment with a sense of wonder. Intricate textures have been woven into refined volumes of majestic demure, where each silken thread is a moving ode to elusive beauty. Each piece is carefully crafted to enhance the aesthetics of symmetry, balance, and harmony — light and airy with a touch of romanticism. Soft hues, landscapes and shapes unite to create a pastel paradise.

The silhouettes: A sense of drama is inherent to my aesthetics. Creating ‘Garden of Delights’ was living the costume drama dreams. I’ve designed the silhouettes keeping the modern woman in the forefront. There are floral applique details and pastoral silhouettes, ombre tulle drapes ornamented with pearl and bugle beads across sweetheart necklines and translucent sleeves into open-back ball gowns. We have also used delicate floral embroidery. There are bouffant lehngas, Bardot bodices, wrap skirts, peplums and saris. Each piece in this collection is an escapade through geographies and time, made unique through generous textures, intricate details, and distinct organic forms.

The accessories: Accessories define your personal style, tastes and preferences. They tie the ensemble together. It changes the way people look and feel. The small details can make you look unique and special. Jewellery should be versatile, sophisticated and elegant. We’ve curated a look with Vilandi jadau, emeralds, tourmalines, blue aquamarine and South Sea pearls. Each piece of jewellery is curated to complement the garments and it’s challenging to do that. We’ve created a range of hairbands, pins, bun tie-ups and gloves to complete the look of this collection.

The interpretation of the veils: Dreamy veils adorned with intricate embellishments and details play leading roles in this sartorial story. An escape to the ‘theatre of dreams’! The veil is a marriage between tulle and applique. The idea was to introduce an element that captures a woman who wears her femininity with ease.

The bride this season: For me, a modern bride is strong and daring. Brides today are more conscious of their choices. They’ll think about the potential for re-wearing the pieces and they’ll consider comfort too. Tradition has its part to play, but adventurous evening dresses and gowns are taking on new importance in the Indian bridal trousseau.
Indian weddings have evolved to integrate contemporary Western silhouettes like ballroom gowns, Bardot bodices and corsets. What is interesting is that every couple getting married showcases their own individual style at their wedding.

The Eshaani Jayaswal sari: Inspired by the fluidity and dreaminess of forms and shapes, The EJ Sari is an invitation to dream. It is an ode to beauty, heritage and charm. Films of Yash Chopra inspired me to create a silhouette that personifies elegance. Fluttering in the breeze, he made the sari ‘iconic’ in its own domain. There are intricately crafted silk organzas, tulles embellished with pearls, floral applique, sequins, and bugle bead detailing.
