Instagram Reels managed to keep Tik Tok loyalists sated, as frequent users discovered Reels offer a slightly more focused scope. A-listers were quick to jump on the trend of creating videos on viral soundtracks to garner engagement.
Bengali celebrities, too, caught up to Instagram Reels and its many perks. While some stars prefer immaculate (possibly choreographed) dance routines, names like Swastika Mukherje or Mimi Chakraborty prefer getting creative with the short videos to better express themselves and to connect with their fans. Here are some of the most prolific celebrity Reel-ers in Tollywood:
Swastika Mukherjee
Swastika Mukherjee recently uploaded a Reel on the trending song Valaiyosai Kalakala by Lata Mangeshkar presenting her “gang of handloom hoarders” to fans. The video is a collage of memories and moments with daughter Anwesha, sister Ajopa and late mother Gopa Mukherjee, among others, all in handloom attire. Her fans showered her with love and the Reel picked up 23,688 likes.
Mimi Chakraborty
Mimi Chakraborty, much like us, is keeping up with Bo Burnham as she uploaded a Reel on his catchy Jeffrey Bezos song earlier this month. The video features a collage of her photos from childhood, her early modelling days and even some of her political rallies. The actor and MP who loves to sing, also added a small clip of her singing Paree Hoon Main in the compilation, where she’s seen in an olive-green dress by Miakee.
Subhashree Ganguly
Subhashree Ganguly loves sharing her off-duty moments with fans, so her Reels usually feature her at a glam-up routine or enjoying some down time with her son Yuvan. Subhashree also participated in the Manike Mage Hithe trend, in a custom yellow salwar designed by Rishika Jain and the Reel garnered more than 27,000 likes.
Rituparna Sengupta
Rituparna Sengupta’s Reels give off an impromptu vibe as the actor shares chic behind-the-scenes stills, slow-motion twirls, and even some looks from her outdoor shoots. She recently danced to the viral Skurtgangg video along with her squad in Himachal Pradesh.
Trina Saha Bhattacharya
The telly star believes in creating versatile video content, and it’s certainly fetching results. From on-set interactions, to lip-sync videos, Trina’s Reels are quite the sensation. One of her latest videos that managed to garner more than 86,000 likes, features her grooving to the viral Samantha Long song On My Way in a casual blue dress.
Madhumita Sarcar
Madhumita Sarcar’s Reels are breathy, spontaneous, and often share a glimpse into how she spends her day, and fans aren’t complaining about the cheeky wardrobe trials or driving Reels. The actor’s newest Reel is set to Kidolitx’s Listen To Me Now and features her in full-blown bridal attire serving up some drama with a pair of shades.
