We’ve officially reached the point where nothing sounds better than chilling in an ice bath all day wearing nothing but a swimsuit. But no matter how tiring it sounds, we need to carry on with our daily routine and work in this scorching heat. We can only make it a little bearable by wearing easy-breezy summer fabrics and making the sunscreen cream our best friend. The key, however, is to slay it in style. Here’s what we recommend.

Choose loose-fitted outfits: Wide-legged trousers, flowy skirts, puff-sleeve shirts and breezy maxi dresses are perfect, those that allow air circulation and your skin to breathe.

Wear cooling fabrics: Choose breathable materials like cotton, linen, and silk. Try to avoid materials that absorb moisture like polyester, rayon and poly blends.

Opt for sleeveless and shorts: When it’s possible, skip jeans, trousers and sleeves during the hottest parts of the summer. The most suitable clothing is sleeveless, spaghetti straps, and tube or off-shoulder tops, as well as shorts, skirts, and loose-fitted dresses.

Go for minimal jewellery: In the summer, avoid wearing dangling, or massive pieces of jewellery since metal weighs you down and becomes sticky quickly. Instead, choose subtle jewellery like a ring stack or small intricate earrings or a dainty necklace.

Say ‘no’ to closed-toe shoes: In your summer shoe collection, closed-toes like trainers and loafers might have a place, but reserve open-toed shoes like slingback sandals, strappy flats, or cork sandals for the hottest days.

Wear all things bright: Even if you love black and dark colours, in the summer brighter hues like powder blue, cute pink or oh-so-trendy lavender are best for really hot days since they reflect heat instead of absorbing it and make you look attractive at the same time.

A hair accessory can make you stand out: There are countless simple summer hairstyles you can create with a headband or hair scarf to keep your locks off your face, and a stylish summer hat acts as sun protection as well.
