Qualcomm Technologies has something new that you will hear a lot about this year — Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, which will tackle mobile experiences in the value tier. It will offer all-day use with fast CPU speeds, sharp photography and videography, plus speedy 5G and Wi-Fi for reliable connections.

Set to hit devices that are expected in the second half of the year, this is the first 4nm platform in the 4-series. It has been designed to extend battery life and improve overall platform efficiency. The Qualcomm Kryo CPU offers peak speeds up to 2.2 GHz and up to 10 per cent better CPU performance for speedy everyday use. Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology can juice up to 50 per cent of a battery in just 15 minutes. Plus, the platform offers support for 120fps FHD+ displays for improved clarity and smooth scrolling.

When it comes to photography, expect electronic image stabilisation and faster autofocus to tackle blur, even with moving subjects. For the first time in the 4-series, Multi Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF) is built into the hardware, offering noise reduction for high-quality videos. It will also come with enough AI chops, like AI-enhanced background noise removal to make calls and video clearer even in noisy surroundings.

Some of the OEM brands that will support Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform include Redmi and Vivo. It’s coming at a time when 5G is available in over 3,000 Indian cities/towns. By the end of 2027, 5G is projected to account for 50 per cent mobile subscribers.
