The 95th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12 and the starstudded event saw some of the best fashion appearances on the champagne carpet (no red carpet this time) that was anything but monotonous. The Telegraph tracked some of our fave looks from the gala event.
Debuting at the Oscars, Deepika Padukone, who was one of the presenters, exuded classic old Hollywood charm in a black Louis Vuitton off-shoulder gown with opera gloves. She completed her regal look with Cartier jewels. Sticking to her fail-proof winged eyes and nude lips, she kept her make-up minimal yet glam. Go DP!
Cate Blanchett, known for recycling her outfits on the red carpet (because why not!), opted for an eco-friendly and sustainable outfit from Louis Vuitton. The satin outfit had two shades of blue — sapphire and midnight blue — and featured a top with power shoulders and a skirt. With her hair in a neat bun, minimal makeup and a pair of drop diamond earrings, Cate stunned everyone with her poise.
Lady Gaga’s outfit was as fresh as it could get! The singer-actor strutted about in a black Versace outfit that was seen for the first time last week at Donatella Versace’s fall 2023 collection in Los Angeles. The gown had a sheer top while it was its super low-cut back that turned heads, quite literally! Bold red glossy lips, dramatic eyes and diamonds complemented Gaga’s personality.
When you know Rihanna will be attending the Oscars, you patiently wait for her appearance because she seldom disappoints. Rocking maternity like a pro, she looked sultry in a belly-hugging Alaïa number that had interesting thigh slits which we loved! She wore a fitted leather bustier that enhanced her growing and glowing figure.
Janelle Monae’s black bustier and skirt probably might not be an ideal Oscar outfit option, but the star carried off the Vera Wang outfit with such confidence that you had to love her appearance. The pop of tangerine and the good old black velvet choker made it a noteworthy look overall.
Actresses Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry got the hotness meter soaring in dangerously risque thigh-high outfits. If Nicole looked smoking hot (even at 55!) in an Armani Privé outfit with giant flowers on her shoulder and waist, Halle went twinning with flowers around her waist and neck in her flowy white Tamara Ralph outfit.
South Asians not only made a mark at the Academy Awards winner list this year, the red carpet too saw them slaying, just like actress Hong Chau who oozed classic elegance and poise in Prada. She chose a light pink dress with Mandarin collar and an interesting black sequinned trail. #SimpleIsSophisticated
A frilly, shapely purple gown was Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress Angela Bassett’s chosen OOTN. While she stuck to diamonds for a safe bet for jewellery options, she went the bold way with lilac lips that she effortlessly pulled off.
So what if the red carpet at the Oscar was champagne? Cara Delevingne brought back the red in a gorgeous Elie Saab billowy gown with thighhigh slit and a dramatic ruffled shoulder sleeve. She complemented the deep red rose shade with red lips, sleek side-parted hair and red heels! Smoking, we say
...AND THE AFTER-PARTY DIVAS
Gigi Hadid looked riveting in an off-the-shoulder skintight red dress with matching red heels. She wore her long blonde curls on one side with winged eyes, silver necklace and rings.
It was quite a task to take our eyes off Kendall Jenner at the Vanity Fair after party. The super model scored a perfecty 10/10 in all aspects. The choice of colour, the perfect body-hugging fit, the ornate gown with gold scale pattern in black... everything was put together seamlessly and she looked like a dream.
Rita Ora opted for a corseted gown in white from Wiederhoeft. While the outfit had a Disney princess charm, the bodice was attached to the skirt with chain link, making it super edgy
How to make a blackand-white outfit fun? Olivia Wilde showed us. A leather tiny bra worn with one-shoulder white Gabriela Hearst gown and a wreath necklace made her look super sultry!
After a safe debut on the Oscar red carpet, Deepika Padukone slipped into sexy mode wearing a stunning Naeem Khan faux fur dress in pink that she wore with stockings, bold make-up and stuck to her opera gloves that she wore earlier too. We loved this whole look on her, the topknot, touch of glitter blue eyeliner made it a fun after-party look.
If you thought cat-eye trend was just for your nails, take a look at Kylie Jenner! The elder Jenner sibling rocked a light-reflecting gown with a giant bow on her chest with a cascading train. With her hair tied into a topknot, Kylie definitely was dressed to impress!
