Hailing from Gujarat, Rameshbhai Shah came to the city and founded Chirag Jewellers in Kolkata in 1972. In 1984, he set up a showroom in BK Market and initially dealt only in diamond jewellery. Over the years, Chirag grew from dealing in small jewellery pieces to various types of high-end diamond jewellery, catering to a broad segment of loyal, niche clients. Since 1990, Chirag started manufacturing its own diamonds in its in-house unit in Surat, crafting each diamond with precision and matching global quality standards. After joining the family business in 1994, Shah’s sons Rakesh Shah and Samir Shah took the brand further. In 2013, Chirag Jewellers moved into its new showroom on Pretoria Street. Today, the brand is one of the most trusted and well-known names in fine jewellery amongst discerning jewellery buyers of the city.
In its 50th year, Chirag has launched an exclusive range of gold and polki jewellery, to serve the diverse and changing needs of its growing number of clients. Chirag’s latest high-end diamond jewellery collection uses the finest quality of Zambian and Colombian emeralds, rubies, sapphires and the best quality briolette and rose-cut diamonds.
Majority of its jewellery is now produced in the brand’s own manufacturing unit in the city. Its styles reflect a unique combination of traditional and modern designs that are appropriate for every occasion and are timeless in appeal.

Since its inception, Chirag Jewellers has given great importance to business ethics. Therefore, we never make any compromise on quality and are fully committed to customer satisfaction. We aspire to go forward with our founding father’s ideals of trust and relationship and create enduring value for our clientele — Samir Shah, partner, Chirag Jewellers
