Started in 2015 with a boutique in Salt Lake, 1999 AD is a fashion brand that is the labour of love of designers Amita and Deepak Bajoria. Joining hands for the first time as business partners in 1999 and creating clothes for exhibitions all over India, the designers later opened the boutique and named it after the calendar year that got them together in this venture.
With an aim to create holistic wardrobe solutions for women, the label focuses on creating contemporary styles that are rooted in Indian culture and craftsmanship. Their range of casual, pret and occasionwear embodies the brand’s design aesthetics of comfort, versatility and timelessness with an essence of simplicity and minimalism.
The label’s festive edit Remuer’22: A Midsummer Dream reflects the label’s idea of elegance through simplicity. Inspired by the French word ‘remuer’ that suggests movement, the outfits in the collection are free-flowing and give a vibe of summer comfort wear.
Created in a bright pastel colour palette, the viscose-georgette and crepe easy-breezy outfits feature prints, placement work and embroidery, something that the label specialises in. The range is a statement collection of wardrobe essentials based on the idea of sustainable capsule collections for intimate festive celebrations.

We take contemporary silhouettes that work well for women and infuse them with the elegance of Indian embroidery,” said Amita and Deepak Bajoria, designers, 1999AD.
Their daughter and marketing head at 1999AD, Abhisri, added, “Remuer, designed with uplifting and warm tones on buoyant and breezy silhouettes, allows an elegant and fearless stride into a beguiling adventure. This convivial collection empowers the wearer to remember, reinvent and remuer. Keeping up with the need for all things minimal and sustainable in today’s world, and realising the importance of more cherished intimate gatherings, we have collated a collection for this festive season that gives the wearer an edge while she feels comfortable in what she wears.”
