Summer Somewhere, which launched in December 2019 and is known for its easy-breezy silhouettes, carries on the narrative of effortless dressing in their new resort wear collection. Meghna Goyal, founder of the young brand, takes The Telegraph through the mood board.
We can almost feel the sunshine in these pictures. Are you a summer person?
I’m a summer girl through and through. Summer Somewhere is a reflection of my personality and I’m glad you can see that through the imagery!
What’s your favourite bit about the season?
At Summer Somewhere we always say, summer is not a season, it’s a state of mind. I’ve always made my best memories in the summer. The sunshine to me means happy times.
How have your summer loves translated in this collection? It’s an outdoorsy collection. What are great picks for summer day outings? How would you dress for the night?
I would say it’s translated into everything we do with the brand. Every garment we make is always tied into the emotion of a summer vacation and what you do when you’re on vacation. We think very hard about the use case of each of the looks when designing new pieces. They have to be something you can wear for multiple occasions when you’re on a vacation. For example, we always have pieces that are easy transition pieces (from day to night) because you tend to stay out all day hopping from one spot to another and then coming back to your hotel at the end of the night. They’re very easy to dress up or down. Every drop also has few pieces specific to night-outs.
What are your favourite summer holiday destinations?
A country I can’t wait to go visit is Italy. A country I would visit over and over again is Spain. There’s so much to do and caters to every mood —whether you want to kick back and relax in the Balearic Islands or go out partying in Barcelona/Ibiza.
How are you spending this summer?
I just moved back to New York a few months ago. It’s my favourite city in the world and one of the nicest places to be in the summer. I’m super excited to explore the city with my husband this year!
