Tuscany Bistro has opened its doors opposite Quest mall and plans to serve an authentic spread of pure vegetarian dishes, bringing together the best of Italian and Indian cuisines. Spread across four floors, the ground floor will serve sweets and bakery items, while the first and second floors have been reserved for fine dining. There is a dedicated space for shisha and a café on the other two floors. The owners of the place have been highly influenced by the serenity and warmth of the Tuscany region in Italy. The bistro is their attempt at bringing the calmness of the region to a dining space in Calcutta where one can take a break and rejuvenate.
Here’s what we saw and munched on.
(Clockwise from left) Hopper Popper is Tuscany Bistro’s version of the classic stuffed mushrooms with a blend of cheeses, fried to perfection. Usually stuffed with jalapenos, this one has mushroom as the main stuffing for that meaty and nutty taste.
Charcoal Lava Bomb is an edible charcoal crisp stuffed with hung curd seasoned with an inhouse blend of spices. This will definitely take you by surprise and make you come back for another bite to experience the explosion of flavours.
Deconstructed Tiramisu is a modern take on the classic Italian dessert. Its subtle flavours and the moderate amount of sweetness will always make you want to dig in for another spoonful.
Howrah Turnover is one of the signature dishes, which combines the magic of Italian Crepes and Howrah’s favourite cutlets, reimagined in a roll form. This dish is a melange of Italian technique with local flavours.
“We wanted to bring all the cuisines under one roof. We have everything here, starting from Italian, Mexican, Thai, and Burmese to our very own Indian traditional dishes. The options for pure-vegetarian being served in fine dining are quite limited, which motivated us all the more to come up with Tuscany Bistro. We have decorated the place with vibrant colours and tried to give it a very calming and soothing vibe so that you can leave behind all the stress and come and enjoy the food here with an equally good ambience,” said Vidushi and Raghav Saraf, owners of Tuscany Bistro.
