Aauris hotel nestled on Robinson Street had a hit party address, Aura, that launched in 2018. Being one of the first skybars in the city then and after years of making Calcutta party on the Skybar & Brewhouse, Aauris has said goodbye to Aura, only to introduce CoBo, an Asian Skybar & Brewery.

“We’ve done an experimental fusion Asian menu, keeping in mind the flavours that we Calcuttans are used to. The menu is your one-stop shop for anything and everything Asian and delicious. The menu is short, about 120 items, so that no one gets confused about what to order. Also we want to perfect every single thing on the menu. You’ve got to try the pizzetes — that’s super new and I haven’t seen anyone else doing them in the city. That’s my take of Asian pizzas. They’re crunchy and fresh!” said Sneha Singhi Upadhaya, food consultant, CoBo

Spread over 6,000sq ft, CoBo exudes a vibe that very few places have. One of the USPs of CoBo lies in the fact that it’s filled with natural light, thus absolutely breaking free from Aura’s dark walls. Designed by Karishma Mehta, CoBo is broadly divided into three sections — glasshouse, semi-outdoor and open air, each capturing a different mood. The decor of the place thrives on various lights used that instantly create a stark vibe during the day and night.

Second interesting factor is that it’s not only a high-energy bar but a brewery too! Crafted cocktails with an Asian twist make the sip menu an interesting one. While their in-house freshly brewed craft beers are ideal for brunches and night-outs.

“The music we are keeping a mix of retro, hip-hop, techno and trending songs that people can sing along to. Since we are looking at an age profile between to 25-40, the music has to be diverse,” said Dimple Saini, MD of Aauris

Food is another factor that makes CoBo cool. Curated by Chef Sneha Singhi Upadhaya, the menu is compact and has experimental fusion Asian food that rides on fresh flavours. “We’ve just started with a short menu and plan to roll out the entire menu in a few weeks. We’re also planning to start brunch soon and trust me that’s going to be off the hook,” said Sneha.

“CoBo is a high-energy bar and brewery serving pan-Asian food. You can call it a casual-dining place, a place to put your feet up and just chill and also a place to indulge in crazy party nights,” said Dimple Saini, MD, Aauris hotel.

t2 dropped in to check it out and here’s what we loved!
