The scouts and guides commemorated the freedom fighters and their contributions. Students also presented solo instrumental pieces on patriotic songs.
The 90-minute programme included a compilation of creative and western dance, yoga and aerobics performances by the students as a tribute to the motherland.
“The Independence Day celebration was an event to cherish as we gathered in a small number on the school grounds. It filled our hearts with a sense of pride and patriotism as the national flag was hoisted and we sang the national anthem in unison. The celebration was a rewarding experience in every sense,” said principal Joyeeta Majumder.

The patriotic fervour did not fail to permeate the homes of the students even though they were unable to be physically present in the school.
“Independence Day is usually celebrated with great fanfare. However, the celebrations are different this year because of the pandemic. It has gone virtual. Students took part in the cultural events and watched flag hoisting from their homes. All the social media pages of the school have broadcast the celebration. The school also paid tribute to all the Olympic participants and winners from the country,” said principal Yogesh Maheswari.
