Rudraksha Banerjee of Kolkata won the Protouch Amateur Open 2023, the first leg of the fifth edition of the IGU Amateur East Zone Feeder Tour 2023, with My Kolkata as digital partner. Banerjee finished with a score of one over par 141 (75 in round one and 66 in round two), five shots better than Anshul Mishra's 146.
The tournament was held at Tollygunge Club between March 29 and 30, with over 40 amateur golfers divided into five different categories. Last year's Order of Merit winner in the mid- amateur category (35 to 49 years), Abhishek Mitra of Hyderabad, shot 147 on both days to claim the title. Sumit Kakkar of Ranchi finished second in this category with a score of 164.

The senior category included those aged between 50 and 59, and the super senior category comprised players aged 60 and above. K. Indrajit of Imphal shot 163 and won both the titles with ease. Subroto Kundu of Kolkata finished second in both categories after shooting 167.
Anaahat Bindra won the ladies’ division after shooting 146 on both days, while Gourabi Bhowmick finished second with 159.
The World Amateur Golf Rankings, also known as WAGR, has recognised the Protouch Amateur Open 2023. Three rounds of WAGR scoring were used. Rudraksha Banerjee won the WAGR event with a three-day total score of 211 in the men’s division, while Anaahat Bindra won the ladies’ division with a score of 215.
Deep Banerjee, the golf captain of Tollygunge Club, presented the prizes to all the winners. The tournament’s education partner was The Champ for Life Academy, the outdoor media partner was Balaji Ads and the proshop partner was Golfedge. Keventer, eastern India’s largest FMCG company, had sponsored giveaways for all the participants. The event was managed by Protouch Sports.
