The Backyard near P.C. Chandra Gardens has become synonymous with active play and fun learning for kids, but this time, the space took it a notch higher and crafted a fun and relaxing exercise for grown-ups as well by hosting a few sessions of puppy yoga by the famed Pawasana-Yoga for a Cause, where participants got to experience yoga with indie puppies.
“We organise yoga with indie puppies all over India to spread awareness about indies and help them get loving homes. With this, we partner with NGOs and help with donations from each portion of the tickets we sell for the workshop. We have been rescuers for years and realised the difficulty of finding a home for the indie dogs and that is how Pawasana was born,” said co-founders Annanya Nautiyal and Anwar Khan.
The Telegraph spoke to the participants at the session and here’s what they had to say.
A busy Sunday evening at The Backyard lawns saw yoga and pet enthusiasts from all parts of the city flocking in.
“Pawasana at The Backyard was fun and adorable! Doing yoga with little fur babies that need a home and some love, is just the perfect Sunday sunset vibe. Throw into this picturesque mix some good food from the cafe and like-minded people to interact with, and you’ve got yourself a very delightful evening,” said Anunay Dhawan
“Thank you so much Pawasana for presenting this great session with these adorable puppies, especially promoting these indies. They deserve much love, respect and kindness. The event was heartwarming, had my best experience ever. Really grateful,” said Puja Gantaitwho was spotted holding a little pup during her asanas.
“The Backyard is a community not just an event space or a play area. As a brand, we believe in things that make a difference in a better future for ourselves and our families. Yoga with indies is a cause very close to our hearts as all of the pets at The Backyard are adopted/ rescued and we wanted to share it with Calcutta. #adoptdontshop,” said Sinaya Khan, co-founder, The Backyard (left) along with Efrah Khan
