Manhar Bajoria and Priya Kumari win big at the Jamshedpur Junior Open

Eight categories of golf took place over two days at Beldih Club

The 11th leg of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) East Zone Junior Feeder Tour 2023, known as the Jamshedpur Junior Open, took place on August 17 and 18 at the Beldih Club. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a total of 35 junior players across eight age categories.

In the A & B Boys’ category, Manhar Bajoria clinched victory with a score of 147, which was just three strokes over par in two rounds of golf. Ahaan Gupta secured the second position with a score of 154.

Among the B Boys, it was Biswakrit Ghosh who emerged as the winner, registering a score of 157. Arrham Jain secured the second spot with a score of 176. In the C Boys’ category, Armaan Bhoopal stood victorious with a score of 198, while Vivaan Jawanpuria secured the second position with a score of 205.

Turning to the E Boys’ division, Harshit Raj Singh claimed the first position with a score of 99, closely followed by Taksh Pandey with a score of 100. In the girls’ categories, the competition was equally intense.

Priya Kumari triumphed in the A & B Girls’ category after a playoff, as she and Shristhi Rani tied on 177. The C & D Girls’ category saw Nahida Parvin emerge victorious with a score of 180, with D. Tanvi securing the second position.

In the E Girls’ division, Novika Kakkar claimed the first position with a score of 161, while Rasmeet Khanuja secured the second spot with a score of 162.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the presence of Farzan Heerjee, vice president of the IGU; and Jeetu Garg, a senior member of Beldih Club. They extended their congratulations to the deserving winners, acknowledging their hard work and exceptional skills. Heerjee took the opportunity to shed light on the various initiatives implemented by the IGU to foster the development of golf at the grassroots level. He emphasised the significance of nurturing emerging talents and fostering the growth of the sport across the country.

The Jamshedpur Junior Open proved to be a platform for young golfers to showcase their dedication and talent, promising a bright future for golf in India.
