Eight categories of golf took place over two days at Tollygunge Club

The recently concluded CFL Junior Open 2023, part of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) East Zone Junior Feeder Tour, unfolded at Tollygunge Club between August 2 and 3, serving as a dynamic stage for budding golfers. The event witnessed a gathering of 55 junior golfers hailing from different corners of India, all vying for supremacy across eight categories.

In the closely watched E Boys’ category, tailored for participants under nine years old, Parikshet More exhibited a remarkable display of skill and finesse, clinching victory with an impressive performance. More's strategic prowess allowed him to finish nine strokes over par, expertly navigating the challenging terrain over two gripping rounds of golf. Harshit Raj Singh, a contender of considerable talent himself, secured the second position, concluding with a score of 10 strokes over par.

Stepping into the arena of E Girls, Amaira Gulati etched her name in the annals of the tournament's history with a stellar exhibition of precision and control. Gulati artfully completed two rounds, culminating with a brilliant score of merely one stroke over par. Meanwhile, Aarya Ganguly secured her standing in the ranks, gracefully capturing the second position by concluding with a score of 17 strokes over par.

The competition got more intense as the tournament moved to the A & B Boys’ category. Ahaan Gupta stood out as the top player, showing strong determination and skill. Gupta played really well and came in first place with a score of five strokes over par in two tough rounds. Another accomplished player, Aditya Khaitan, came in second with a respectable score of eight strokes over par.

However, the event was not without its challenges. Unfavourable weather conditions, coupled with overnight rain, led to the truncation of the first round of the tournament to a total of 13 holes. Despite these adversities, the participants displayed an unyielding spirit, undeterred in their pursuit of victory.

In the B Boys’ category, Subhradip Das emerged as the victor, surmounting the odds and finishing with a score of 19 strokes over par. Biswakrit Ghosh, displaying remarkable tenacity, secured second place, concluding with a score of 23 strokes over par.

The spotlight then shifted to the C Boys’ category, where Andrew Baid's consummate skills paved the way for triumph, culminating in a score of 26 strokes over par. Notably, the battle for the second spot witnessed a gripping three-way tie, featuring Hredaan Raj BIhani, Aranyak Chakraborty and Krishiv Rungta, all concluding with an identical score of 27 strokes over par across two demanding rounds.

The fervour continued to escalate as the competition delved into the Category D Boys’ arena. Samarth Agarwal showcased sheer determination and resilience, overcoming the odds with a score of 36 strokes over par. Hrian Khen secured second position, concluding with a score of 55 strokes over par, closely pursued by Shaurya Sen, who secured third place with a score of 57 strokes over par.

Shifting gears to the B Girls’ category, Mehak Lohan exhibited her mettle, securing the winner's position with a score of 24 strokes over par. Ananya Roy, displaying a commendable show of skill and precision, claimed the second position with a score of 29 strokes over par.

In Category D Girls, Julinka Roy Chowdhury's performance stood unrivalled, culminating in victory with a score of 33 strokes over par across two gripping rounds. Nahida Parvin secured second position with a score of 48 strokes over par, while Vaanya Rustagi clinched the third place, concluding with a score of 66 strokes over par.

The IGU East Zone Junior Feeder Tour 2023 showcased the indomitable spirit and burgeoning talent of these young golfers. The tournament served as a testament to their dedication, determination, and unwavering passion for the sport.

The tour's education partner was The Champ for Life Academy, the outdoor media partner was Balaji Ads and the online proshop partner was Golfedge. Keventer, eastern India's largest FMCG company, had sponsored giveaways for all the participants. The event was managed by Protouch Sports.
