Karan Verma of Kolkata won the Protouch Amateur Golf Championship 2022, the 13th leg of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Eastern India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour 2022, which was held at Tollygunge Club between November 1 and 4.
Verma shot a 4-under-par 66 in round two of the amateur event, which proved decisive. His total score was three under par 137, which was better than another Kolkata golfer, Sanu Das, who shot 141, but finished second on the countback-basis (better second round score). Das was tied for second place with Sandeep Yadav and Anshul Mishra. Because this tournament was a WAGR-ranked event, it required three rounds of golf to win. Yadav prevailed in the WAGR event with 211, three shots better than Mishra's 214.

Sinjini Mukherjee won the WAGR event in the ladies’ division with a score of 237, one shot ahead of Anahaat Bindra's 238. However, in the Feeder Tour (two rounds) event, Fizaa Ali shot 157 and won the event, followed by Gourabi Bhoumick's 158.
The event was the second World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event of the year, with golfers competing for WAGR points across three rounds. The rest of the Feeder Tour competitors, on the other hand, only played two rounds. The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A), the governing body of golf outside of the United States and Mexico, established the WAGR system for men on January 23, 2007. Every year, it is based on the results of approximately 2,600 amateur tournaments.
