Gecko rescued

Foresters seized a Tokay gecko, a rare lizard species, and arrested two men. The duo was intercepted near Kunjanagar, under the jurisdiction of Falakata police station in Alipurduar district, while they were allegedly carrying the lizard. The Tokay gecko is a species of Asian lizard, characterised by orange spots on the skin and a shrill croak. It is protected under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act (WPA), 1972.
