Train to Dhaka cancelled
The Kolkata (Chitpore)-Dhaka Maitree Express has been cancelled on August 27, said an official of Eastern Railway. Those who booked tickets will get refunds.
Dooars tourism
Tourism stakeholders in the Dooars have introduced a package to woo tourists who are skipping the region because of Bhutan s tourism policy. Bhutan charges 1,200 per person per night as a sustainable tourism fee. "Middle-class tourists are not visiting Bhutan as they have to pay 1,200 per person per night," said a travel agent in the Dooars. Middle-class tourists usually avail of a holiday package that includes the Dooars and Bhutan. However, with a dip in tourist inflow, stakeholders have now come up with a combined package of the Dooars and Assam to attract tourists during the upcoming Puja vacation.
