Puja banner
The banner of this year’s Durga Puja of Chaltabagan Sarbojonin, on DL Roy Road in north Kolkata, was unveiled on Independence Day. The puja turns 80 this year. The theme for this year is Antarlok -- a journey into the inner world, the organisers said.
Wildlife forensics
The Centre for Wildlife Forensics and Conservation Genomics, a facility to strengthen the fight against wildlife crime, was inaugurated at the New Alipore headquarters of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) on Friday. Leena Nandan, the secretary in the ministry of environment, forest and climate change, inaugurated the facility. "The new centre represents a significant leap forward in our efforts to combat wildlife crime and protect India s rich biodiversity," said Nandan. Dhriti Banerjee, the director of ZSI, said the centre would be equipped with the latest advancements in genomic technology and forensic science.
