The CC&FC, in association with t2, organised their Pre-Independence Musical Evening on Sunday, August 13. The event started with some of the members singing their favourite songs with music by the band Silvermine. Five members from the club participated in this sing-along with classic Bollywood songs like Ajeeb dastan hai yeh and Sawan ke jhoole pade. This was followed by Trisha Chatterjee’s performance where she sang patriotic and Bollywood songs, ranging from Vande Mataram and Aye mere watan ke logon to more contemporary ones like Bulleya and Besharam rang. Over an array of food and drinks, the club members thoroughly enjoyed the night.

“Today is a special day celebrating Independence Day. I will sing some patriotic songs, including my all-time favourite song Aye mere watan ke logon, with some more contemporary Bollywood numbers and Lataji’s songs, like Lag jaa gale. I will also take some audience choices,” said Trisha Chatterjee.
Partha Bhattacharjee, a member of the club, said, “It is a beautiful initiative taken by CC&FC and by president Babulda in the pretext of Independence Day. He has given this opportunity to all club members, irrespective of their skills. It is an independence in our culture and musical tradition in Calcutta. I came back from Bangalore a couple of years ago. Apart from sports, which CC&FC stands for, this musical culture is very encouraging. A big thumbs up from all of us.”
Sangita Parasramka, a member of the club, said, “Today, we are celebrating Independence Day. It is for the members and by the members. So those interested are all putting up their efforts here. Trisha Chatterjee is also going to perform here, and I am excited about the event.”
President of CC&FC, Subrata ‘Babul’ Das, said, “Usually, we have Independence Eve on the 14th, but owing to Monday being a holiday, we are having it today. There are singers from the CC&FC family, and, of course, there is our guest, Trisha Chatterjee.”
