The Electrosteel Skills Competition 2024, which concluded on August 3 at Tollygunge Club, was a testament to meticulousness and expertise among 48 club members, including young and senior golfers alike. This year the competition saw an engrossing skills competition among eight teams, consisting of six members each.

The eager participants started gathering near the Driving Range, Tollygunge Club, even before the competition commenced. As the competition kicked off, the players buckled up for a terrific five-holes match play for the knockout rounds, where each player got the opportunity to hit three shots each for each skill area.

Gradually, the stakes heightened, and each level of the game became even more challenging. The suspense intensified as the game escalated from hole to hole, leaving the spectators hooked.

Though all the eight teams fought with utmost passion, only four teams qualified for the semi-finals. Following the battle among the last four, the Good Samaritans and the Birdie Boys put up a stunning exhibition of skills and qualified to the finals. Led by their captain Deep Banerjee, the Birdie Boys, comprising Saugata Banerjee, Vikramjit Singh, Armaan Bhoopal, Rudraksh Banerjee and Mayukh Ray, demonstrated exceptional expertise, persistence and fortitude and secured the coveted championship.

In hot pursuit were the Good Samaritans. Led by Nilmani Brahma, the team consisted of Khanshree Brahma, Ashish Kumar, Ravindra K. Kanoi, Vaasvi Himatsingka and Sanjib Mahato. The Good Samaritans, too, displayed remarkable mastery and sportsmanship throughout the match.

The championship not only recognised and celebrated achievements, teamwork and victory, but also highlighted the enthusiasm, camaraderie and synergy among all the golf lovers who participated in this event.
