The 5th BRC Tata Structura Marathon, in association with The Telegraph, took place on January 2023, with almost 1,500 participants in 10km and 5km categories. Celebrating 75 years of Independence, a special themed run took place highlighting all the major landmarks/ cultures of India along the race route. There was also a 3km Harry Potter- themed Happy Feet Run for children decorated in the theme with characters to cheer the children. The run was rounded off with a fun carnival. “The BRC Tata Structura Marathon this year was truly an exceptional experience. The India Gate start, coupled with cultural performances from Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Calcutta during the run, helped to foster a sense of unity among all participants. The overwhelming response from participants is a testament to the success of the event. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the winners,” said Prerit Kedia, CEO, Kedia Pipes. “Tata Structura BRC Marathon is the signature event and one of the most sought-after of our club. The atmosphere at 6am on a winter morning with more than a thousand participants warming up by the lake with rocking music, was exhilarating. The sumptuous breakfast after the run was the icing on the cake. We intend to make the event bigger and better every year,” said Deepak Jalan, president, The Bengal Rowing Club. “It was good to have the BRC The 5K starting line 10k back on the Kolkata running circuit after a three-year pandemic-induced gap. The BRC Marathon run is the city’s marquee club run. Professionally organised with great volunteer enthusiasm, a picturesque course through the Lakes, and the signatureBRC breakfast at the finish,this event was really good,”said Varun Swarup, winner of the 10kms category.

“I have been able to complete 5kms because I am a regular walker. I would like to advise all youngsters to use their mornings for some physical activity that will keep them fit and healthy.BRC Marathon is well organised and I look forward to taking part every time,” said Manju Daga(left), the senior most runner,aged 78.
