Sunburn Arena, Anshul Chauhan and Dhruv Todi of Rhythmbox are back again with a stellar artiste to perform in Calcutta. After getting Armin van Buuren in October last year, this time they have DJ Alan Walker kick-starting his Walker World India Tour with Calcutta as the first stop today at Biswa Bangla Milan Mela Prangan. It will also mark the Norwegian DJ's first time in the city, although he has performed in India earlier. Ahead of the much-awaited concert today, t2 caught up with Anshul on what makes this gig special and what to look forward to.

What made you say 'yes' to collaborating with Sunburn for Alan Walker?

We have been working with Sunburn for the last 10 years and Alan Walker is an artiste we never really had an opportunity to do in Calcutta. The city loves debuts... artistes who have never performed before. So we thought that Alan Walker would be very popular amongst the crowd here. Secondly, I personally love his music as well and there are songs that resonate with all of us. We hear these songs in nightclubs, and bars every day and we don't even realise it but we sing along, so it will be lovely to see him live.

Alan kicks off his Walker World India Tour with Calcutta. Does that put you guys under pressure?

To be honest, there was a lot of draw too because it was the first city of the tour and we were very excited about that and it didn't put us in pressure, more so, it showed our audiences who have been coming to our events that why not Calcutta first!

Anshul, you mentioned that it is going to be a one-of-a-kind concert. Having organised A-listers like Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake concert etc in Calcutta earlier, what makes you say this for Walker?

Normally A-listers like Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren bring their international production as well to India, however, Alan Walker has never come to Calcutta before and this is the first time he will be bringing his Walker World International Tour production to Calcutta.

The event kicks off at 6pm where we have a host of local talent to promote which we always focus on promoting. We have a fantastic line-up all the way up to Alan Walker who is going to be gracing us with a two-hour set which in itself is very special because normally international DJs give us a one-and-a-half-hour set. So we are going to enjoy Alan's creativity and musical genius for two hours. That's not all, his set will also bring in a bunch of singers and performers... and maybe a celebrity here and there, who knows (smiles).

Tell us the USP of this concert. What can the audience expect from the concert?

Alan Walker is just 27 years old and connects to the younger community via his involvement in the gaming world and of course his fantastic compositions. Hence this time we are having a family zone, a first of its kind event in this city where we are including kids, from the age group of five to 13 years to come along for an event like this and they must be accompanied by a parent of course. It is a smoke and alcohol free zone.

We have included a Fan Pit too for his passionate fans and this age group ranges all the way from 16 to 30! The audience should expect an event that is full of fun vibes, melodic music, nostalgic music, tracks that we have heard growing up with top notch production, sound and lighting. We will also have great food at various food stalls, cuisines... pizzas to burgers to the best of alcohol as well and we are looking at a night that is going to be very memorable in terms of the crowd too! According to me, and my experience in the industry, this will be the biggest indoor dance music event that Calcutta has ever witnessed.
