Two undertrial prisoners fled Jamshedpur civil court Hazaat under Sitarmdera thana area on Friday afternoon.

The two undertrials escaped from the court hazaat through a ventilator after cutting iron rods of it at about 2.30 pm while there was no police man present near the hazaat.

Two more undertrial prisoners who were in the hazaat had helped the fugitives in escaping. These other two had allegedly carried the fugitives on their shoulders in cutting the iron rods and in sneaking through the ventilator.

Soon after the two fled the court hazaat, the police men present on hazaat security duty had swung into action but it was too late. Soon senior police officers were informed about what happened in the hazaat, leading the senior SP, M Tamil Vanan and DSP (Composite Control Room) Animesh Gupta rushed to the spot and inspected the scene.

The two who escaped the court hazaat had been brought from the Ghaghidih Central Jail for production in hearing of a theft case they were arrested in. After their production, the two were lodged back in the hazaat to be taken back to the central jail.

"There were 25 constables deputed in the hazaat security duty, but the cop what whose duty was to keep an watch inside the hazaat was absent as he is sick. The hazaat in-charge should have made a replacement, but he did not do that. Thus the hazaat in-charge must be held responsible for the undertrials' escape," said Animesh Gupta while talking to The Telegraph Online.

The CCR DSP said that a probe has been initiated on the order of the senior SP into the incident. He stated that the probe report will be submitted soon.

Gupta said the police have started a hunt for the two fugitives who were arrested for stealing a bike from Kadma area on December 27. He informed that the entire police department is searching for them, hoping that the duo will be caught soon.
