The Dhanbad division of East Central Railway has earned the highest revenue in country among all railway divisions in terms of goods transport from April 2021 to February 2022.

The division has secured revenue worth Rs 16766.11 core during the period. PK Mishra, Public Relation Officer of Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway said that the division proved its efficiency by carrying out `142.76 Metric Tons (MT) of goods transport which is 19.94% more than the 119.02 Metric Tons of goods transport carried out during the same period of 11 months last year. He further said that 142.76 metric tons of goods transport is the highest ever goods transport so far carried out by the division for the same period.

Mishra further said that the division has also performed well in terms of rake loading as it carried it out at the rate of 109.66 rake per day for the period April 2021 to February 2022 which is 20.21% more rake loading of 91.2 rakes per day carried out by the division during the same period during the last year.

Notably, during the unprecedented coal crisis faced by the power houses during September-November last year across the country, the coal transport to different power houses was carried out at increased pace from different parts of Dhanbad and adjoining collieries.

The division having over 140 railway stations and halts spread over five states including Jharkhand, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh is well known for its good track record in terms of goods transport and has also secured the first position among all railway divisions in the country is terms of goods transport and particularly in coal transport.
