Significantly, while instructing for reopening of the static testing centres, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Suraj Kumar through a tweet called upon the people who had running nose, cough, cold and body-aches then go over to the nearest testing centre for getting their sample tested for Covid.

Revealing about the reopening of the static testing centres, district civil surgeon, AK Lal said they would do the sample tests for Covid-19 by organising camps at public places, including railway station, market places and at the entry points of the city.

"We had shut down the static testing centres in October when the Covid cases had subsided considerably. But we had to reopen them as the number of fresh Covid cases started to rise again, " said the civil surgeon while talking to The Telegraph Online.

Lal pointed out that the next seven to 10 days are very crucial during which the health department will have to carry out maximum number of sample tests. He said the more number of people are tested Coronavirus positive the better.

"The more number of people are tested positive, we can curb the spread of the virus by keeping such people in home quarantine or in the hospitals. This is the reason that we reopened the sample testing centres which had been closed down, " said the civil surgeon.

A record number of 1,160 Coronavirus positive cases were detected out of a total 11,441 sample tests carried out in the steel city during the past 24 hours here. Apart from so many positive cases in a single day, four persons, including a 10-year-old boy died of the Covid in the city during this period,
