FIR lodged in student's death case; body cremated

Family demands judicial probe at the earliest

A day after the death of a 14-year-old class X student Ashmit Akash of De Nobili School Sindri, police lodged an FIR against unidentified persons under section 302 of IPC and began investigation into the case.

Talking to the media, Sindri DSP, Abhishek Kumar, said, “We are looking into all aspects of the incident and all evidences including the CCTV footages, post mortem reports are being minutely examined and questioning of the classmates and teachers in being carried out”

“We will not spare anybody involved in the incident and today we have convinced the family members of the deceased to have faith in the police investigation when we were carrying out a road blockade by putting the dead body on the road,” said Kumar.

Meanwhile, the body was cremated on Thursday on the bank of river Damodar in Sindri in the presence of family members including father, Prafull Kumar; mother Basmati Devi and elder brother, Ayush besides other residents of Sindri.

Earlier, the post mortem of the dead body of the deceased was carried out late last night at Sahid Nirmal Mahto Memorial Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) by a medical board constituted by the district administration and videography of the post mortem was also carried out.

Different political, social, trade organisations of Sindri and however expressed disgust over the incident and demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident.

Talking to media, Deepak Kumar Deepu, President of Sindri Chamber of Commerce, who is also senior Vice President of Parents body, Jharkhand Abhibhavak Manch said, “We deeply sympathise with the family of the deceased which lost a valuable member and the entire society, school management, administration will have to ensure that recurrence of such incidents do not take place in future."

“We also demand a high level probe into the incident by the education department led by District Education Officer (DEO) or District Superintendent of Education (DSE) and at the same time also demand an independent probe into an incident under the leadership of a retired judge,” said Dipu.

He also demanded a counseling session of students of different schools in wake of the incident.
The AJSU meanwhile also carried out a road blockade against the incident in Sindri and held the school administration directly responsible for the incident and demanded a high level probe.
