A 14 year old class X student of De Nobili School Sindri, died this morning in school under mysterious circumstances raising serious questions about the safety and security of students in school campus.
Family members of the deceased, Ashmit Akash however charged that he was beaten to death by some classmates.
Prafful Kumar, father of the deceased told media that he received a call on his mobile phone at around 11 am this morning from a school official telling that his son was having breathing problems.
"When I reached the school I found my son lying in a serious condition with his eyes turning blue. He was then rushed to a local physician of Sindri, Dr CG Saha. “From the OPD he was referred to Sahid Nirmal Mahto Memorial Medical College and Hospital where he was declared brought dead.".
He added. "I have been informed by the college authorities that he succumbed to injuries following a clash with a fellow classmate."
“I would like to question if the clash happened how could he was injured while the other remained unhurt," questioned Kumar.
"My son was regularly complaining of harassment," said Kumar. "He was not going to school for a couple of days and was also not in a mood to go school on Wednesday but he decided against it at the eleventh hour.
Chandrashekhar Francis, Principal of De Nobili School Sindri said, "A tragic incident of death of student has take place in school and we have thoroughly scanned the CCTV footage which revealed no scuffle between the students."
“When the computer teacher arrived in class X at around 10.41 am he noticed that all students stood to wish him but Ashmit Akash didn’t stand up, he immediately informed the school in charge Pradeep Shah who arrived and the boy was rushed to local doctor from where he was rushed to SNMMCH,” said Francis
“We have constituted a committee to inquire into the incident and simultaneously also informed police and cooperating with all kinds of evidence including CCTV footages,” added Francis elaborating that the committee would comprise a parent, some local people’s representative, a journalist and others.
Rohit Rajak, a sub inspector of Sindri police station, said, “Following interaction with students and CCTV footage scanning we found no evidence of death due to beating but the post mortem report will further throw light on the cause of death."
