Students protest against college refusal to accept fee deduction decision

Around 100 out of 1200 students facing difficulty due to the refusal of different private B Ed college administrations to implement the decision to slash the B.Ed course fee on Monday carried out a massive protest at Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU).

The protesters claimed that while the university during the last year took the decision to slash the course fee for B Ed course for 2019-21 batch students from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.2 Lakh as per the request of the students due to decreased income of the family, majority of private B Ed Colleges are refusing to implement the university order and demanding the student to pay Rs 1. 5 lakh before the fourth semester exam.

The protesters also met the newly appointed vice chancellor of Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Mukul Narayan Deo who was in Dhanbad to participate in the academic council meeting of the university and apprised about the difficulties faced by them due to refusal of private colleges obey the orders of university with regard to course fee deduction.

“While the university, accepted our demand for course fee deduction after series of agitations carried out during the last year and ordered to decrease the course fee for all private and government colleges, only government colleges accepted the university instruc while all other private colleges are pressurizing their students to pay Rs 1.5 lakh as fee,” said Santosh Kumar one of the agitators who led the protest and added they will intensity their protest if their demands are not accepted.
