Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday vowed to uproot Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming elections and asserted that those who commit atrocities do not last long.
Refusing to be cowed down by the CBI’s second chargesheet filed earlier this week in the alleged land-for-jobs scam in the railways in which his younger son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s name was also included as an accused along with others, Lalu launched a direct attack on Modi and the BJP-led government at the Centre.
“Ukhaad kar phenk denge Narendra Modi, samajh lo. Zyada anyay aur zulm nahin karna. Zulm karne wala zyada thehra nahi hai. (Will uproot and throw away Narendra Modi, understand this. Do not indulge in injustice and atrocities. Those who commit atrocities do not stay for long),” Lalu said.
The 76-year-old leader made the comment while addressing party workers and supporters at the 27th foundation day celebrations of the RJD in Patna.
Though Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi and younger son Tejashwi were not present at the event, elder son Tej Pratap Yadav was by his side. Several other RJD leaders were present on the occasion.
Lalu said Modi was imposing cases on anyone he wanted to.
The RJD leader pointed out that a similar situation prevailed in Bihar earlier, where people used to threaten the poor with police and court cases to quell their voices.
The RJD chief targeted Modi over his failure to address communalism, inflation and the predicament of the poor.
“This Narendra Modi has no acumen to address poverty and the issues related to the poor. He is completely and continuously breaking the country. MLAs are being bought on a large scale. They are bought to form governments,” Lalu said while lambasting the Prime Minister over inflation and the current political situation in Maharashtra.
The RJD chief asserted that “unity, integrity and harmony are being trampled and crushed in the country. The followers of Ram and Rahim are being pushed towards hatred. The Constitution and reservation given to us by Babasaheb Ambedkar are being destroyed by the fascist and communal forces”.
Appealing to the people to keep marching ahead instead of bowing down, Lalu also touched on the subject of Opposition unity and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“Karnataka was just a trailer. Other things are still pending. Everything will be all right. We will win,” Lalu added.
