Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud has invited the office-bearers of the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association for talks on Monday to discuss a senior judge’s proposed transfer that has triggered an uncommon boycott in the state.
The talks are scheduled to be held at 1.30pm at the chambers of the Chief Justice of India.
The members of the Bar have abstained from the proceedings in Gujarat High Court since Thursday afternoon following suggestions that the Supreme Court collegium had decided to transfer Justice Nikhil S. Kariel to Patna High Court.
The advocates’ association president, Prithivaraj Singh Jadeja, told The Telegraph that Justice Chandrachud’s personal secretary had called him around 10.30am and invited them to talks on Friday itself at 1.30pm.
As the members were unable to reach Delhi so soon, it is learnt that the CJI fixed the meeting on Monday.
