The Odisha government has simplified the guidelines for issuing no-objection certificates to different institutions for the opening of new courses in nursing, pharmacy, and allied medical sciences.

All inspections by government officials of all the institutions will be done only with prior intimation to the health and family welfare department. A gazette notification to this effect was issued on Tuesday.

“Private entrepreneurs will be encouraged for establishing high-quality and sustainable healthcare educational institutions for imparting qualitative high-skilled education in nursing, pharmacy and allied medical science courses and generate high-skilled healthcare personnel in the state,” the notification said.

“The GIS and Gap analysis system for determining the requirement of a number of institutions in a district shall be discontinued. No application prior to the issue of this notification shall be entertained for revalidation,” it said.

The state government will take steps to set up government institutions according to demand for unserved areas if required.

According to the notification, the inspection by the district administration i.e. collector and district magistrate, additional district magistarte, BDO, deputy collector, tahasildar etc. shall be discontinued.

The inspection shall now be conducted by a team of inspectors who are experts in the medical or paramedical or nursing or allied science subjects related to the course applied.
