Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday called on the people to “counter the communal and divisive forces that are out to destroy Bihar” and accused chief minister Nitish Kumar of patronising the RSS andthe BJP.

“The communal forces, the RSS and the BJP have been allowed to flourish under the rule of chief minister Nitish Kumar. At a time when their speeches are centred around hatred, it is extremely necessary for us to unite and face them. We must come together to defeat their goals of spreading hatred, dividing the people and making people fight amongthemselves,” Tejashwi said.

Tejashwi, also the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, asserted that the RJD believed in secularism and social justice and it would work to foster an environment of progress in the state.

“We want peace, harmony and prosperity in Bihar so that the people can progress. The main issues are unemployment, poverty, inflation, migration and development, but the BJP and the NDA government are working for the destruction of the state,” the RJD leader added.

Tejashwi was speaking after welcoming former don and Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin’s wife Heena Shahab and son Osama into the RJD. Shahabuddin died of Covid-19 in Tihar jail in 2021.

“Heena Shahab and Osama have joined the RJD again. We believe that their arrival will strengthen our party not only in Siwan but the whole of Bihar,” Tejashwi said.
