Chhattisgarh: Bhupesh Baghel announces unemployment allowance for educated youth

According to the criteria and conditions set for unemployment allowance, the applicant must be a native of the state to be a beneficiary of this scheme

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced an unemployment allowance at the rate of Rs. 2500 per month to educated unemployed people of the state.

In this regard, an order has been issued by the Skill Development Department, Technical Education Department and Employment Department approving the scheme.

Criteria and conditions

Director of Employment and Training, Chhattisgarh, Raipur said that according to the criteria and conditions set for unemployment allowance, the applicant must be a native of Chhattisgarh to get an unemployment allowance.

However, Unemployed educated individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 35. He must have a minimum of a Higher Secondary (12th) qualification from a recognized board. He must be registered in the District Employment and Self-Employment Guidance Center, and his employment registration must be at least two years old with a Higher Secondary or higher qualification as of April 1st of the application year.

The applicant should not have any source of income, and the applicant's family's annual income from all sources should not exceed Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand.

Unemployment benefits will be provided to qualifying educated youth for the first year. If the person does not find meaningful employment within one year, the period of unemployment benefits can be extended for another year. In no case will this time exceed two years.

Only one person from each family will be eligible for unemployment allowance. If one person in a household has been authorised for unemployment benefits, the other person will be ineligible. Any member of the applicant's family who works in any Central or State Government entity or local body other than Class IV or Group D shall be ineligible for unemployment benefits.

If the applicant is offered self-employment or a position in the government or private sector but does not accept it, he or she will be disqualified for unemployment benefits.

Family members of former and present ministers, state ministers, former or current members of Parliament or state legislatures, former and current mayors of municipal corporations, and former and current district panchayat chairpersons will be ineligible for unemployment allowance.

Pensioners' family members who get a monthly pension of Rs.10,000/- or more will be disqualified for unemployment benefits. Families whose members paid income tax in the preceding assessment year will be ineligible for unemployment benefits.

Engineers, doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, and family members of architects who are members of professional groups will be disqualified for unemployment allowance.

In addition to this, the amount of unemployment allowance will be paid to the eligible beneficiary's bank account every month. All recipients of unemployment allowance will be provided with skill development training.

They will be assisted in obtaining employment following the skill development training, and if they decline to engage in the skill development training or do not accept the position given, their unemployment allowance will be stopped.
