In a relief to the Adani Group, the Supreme Court refused to transfer the probe into the allegations of stock price manipulation by the Indian corporate giant to a special investigation team and directed market regulator SEBI to complete its probe into two pending cases within three months. The apex court noted that SEBI has completed 22 out of the 24 investigations into the allegations levelled against the Adani Group.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal skipped for the third time the summons issued by the ED in the Delhi excise policy case with the AAP alleging that the repeated notices were part of a conspiracy to arrest him to stop him from campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls. AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi called the summons a 'political' vendetta and said the ED has not responded to Kejriwal's repeated written requests seeking clarity on why he was being called for questioning.

Supreme Court sought a reply from the Lok Sabha secretary general on Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra's plea challenging her expulsion from the Lower House. "We will consider your plea for interim relief in March," Justice Sanjiv Khanna told Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Moitra.

One more person who was injured in firing by a banned organisation in Lilong Chingjao area in Manipur's Thoubal district died, taking the toll in the incident to five, officials of the hospital where he was admitted said. The shooting was seen as the fallout of a dispute over money collected through illegal drug trade, government officials said.

Candidates appearing for engineering entrance exam JEE-Main will have to undergo frisking and biometric attendance after toilet breaks as well, according to National Testing Agency (NTA) officials. At present, aspirants are screened at the entry and biometric attendance is also recorded there.

The ongoing crisis in Indian wrestling took a fresh twist when hundreds of junior wrestlers assembled at Jantar Mantar here to protest against the loss of one crucial year of their careers, a situation for which they blamed top grapplers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat. Close to 300 of them came from Arya Samaj Akhara in Chhaprauli, Baghpat while many others came from the Virender Wrestling Academy in Narela.

Delhi High Court dismissed a petition by Neelam Azad, an accused arrested in the December 13 Parliament security breach case, seeking her release on ground that her police remand was illegal. Azad's lawyer argued that the police custody was in violation of the provisions of the Constitution as she was not allowed to consult a legal practitioner of her choice to defend her during the trial court proceedings.

Japan's transport authorities began inspecting the charred remains of a passenger jet and a coast guard plane that collided at a Tokyo airport, while media said police were also investigating possible professional negligence in the case. Japanese authorities say the cause of the crash is unclear.

Delhi High Court granted three vivo-India executives one week to file their reply to a plea by the Enforcement Directorate challenging an order for their release in a money laundering case. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma listed the matter for further hearing on January 11 and said, "They will need to file a reply. I can't deny them".
