Bitten by a werewolf upon returning to hometown Oregon, Christopher Abbott’s Blake gradually transforms into a beast in the latest teaser of Wolf Man, a remake of the classic 1941 horror flick by Leigh Whannell.

Dropped by Universal Pictures on Friday, the one-minute-10-second-long video begins with a shot of the wildlife of Oregon. Subsequent scenes show Abbott’s Blake trying to protect his wife Charlotte (Julia Garner) and their young daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth) from a strange monster prowling in the parameters of his ancestral house.

However, it is not long before Blake starts to turn into a werewolf. What follows is a haunting sequence in the dead of the night, with Blake’s monster chasing his wife and daughter whom he was trying to protect so far.

Wolf Man revolves around Blake, who lives with his daughter and wife in San Francisco. When his father mysteriously disappears and is presumed dead, Blake inherits the remote childhood home in rural Oregon. With tensions rising in his marriage to Charlotte (Julia Garner), Blake convinces her to leave the city for a while and take their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth) to the secluded property.

Upon arriving at the farmhouse late at night, the family is attacked by an unseen creature, forcing them to flee inside and barricade themselves as the beast lurks outside.

Wolf Man is directed by Whannell, who is known for The Invisible Man, Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3. The screenplay is written by Leigh Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Also starring Sam Jaeger, Ben Prendergast and Benedict Hardie, the film is produced by Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum and is executive produced by Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Leigh Whannell.

A remake of the 1941 horror movie The Wolf Man directed by George Waggner, the film is slated to hit theatres globally on January 17 next year.
