Tollywood stars Riddhi Sen and Surangana Bandyopadhyay offered a glimpse into their latest jamming session to fans on Friday. This time, Riddhi strummed the guitar while Surangana crooned John Lomax’s cover of Fare Thee Well.

Riddhi, who also often shares interesting anecdotes with the songs, wrote about John Lomax’s (1867-1948) connection with the song. Lomax was an American musicologist and folklorist whose contribution to preserving American folk music is lauded till date. He is also the co-founder of the Texas Folklore Society with American linguist professor Leonidas Payne.

Riddhi shared how Lomax first came across the song Fare Thee Well on the banks of Brazos river in Houston, Texas in the 1900s, sung by an African American woman named Dink.

Riddhi, who is also a thespian working with Swapnasandhani, found striking similarities between the song and William Shakespeare’s Ophelia, waiting for Hamlet. Surangana joined Riddhi in the melancholic song that talks about love and longing.

The song, also known as the Dink's Song, has a popular rendition by Marcus Mumford and Oscar Isaac in the movie Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).

Surangana Bandyopadhyay will be next seen in the Parambrata Chattopadhyay-directed Nikosh Chhaya, the next story after Parnashavarir Shaap. Riddhi Sen is making a mark in Bollywood, working with Anurag Kashyap. The actor has previously worked with Kajol in Helicopter Eela.
