Riddhi Sen has shared his experience of working in Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film, opening up about how the latter showed him what it truly means to be “free” as an “actor, artist and person”.
“I feel immensely privileged and humbled to work with this man, who showed me through his eyes and lenses, what it truly means to be ‘free’ as an actor, artist and person in a time when we are desperately caging ourselves by a culture of mindless and fearful imitation,” the actor wrote in a note alongside a picture with Kashyap on Instagram.
Riddhi went on to say how he will always be indebted to the Kennedy director as an actor and a human being. “Never have I discovered before how a complete submission and surrender eventually renders into a sense of complete freedom, this man is capable of taking his actor and the person through this astonishingly beautiful contradiction,” he mentioned in the note.
Riddhi, who received the National Film Award for Best Actor for his 2019 film Nagarkirtan, said he was inspired by Kashyap’s unabashed honesty and dignity as a filmmaker. He also said working with Kashyap felt like “being with a parent” on the sets and signed off by saying that they have completed shooting for the first schedule of the film.
Another picture shared by Riddhi shows a book gifted by Kashyap with a note attached to the wrapper. “Dearest Riddhi, Thank you for being part of this film and chasing the journey with all of us. This is a very special book and helped me a whole lot. I hope it does the same for you. Lots of love,” Kashyap’s note reads.
Riddhi is set to star in a thriller by Kashyap, which also stars Sanya Malhotra and Bobby Deol. Saba Azad, Joju George, Jeetendra Joshi, Ankush Gedambe, Sapna Pabbi, Nagesh Bhonsle, Jamini Pathak and Ghamshyam Garg will also feature in the film, Kashyap recently announced in his Instagram story.
Riddhi made his acting debut in Tollywood with Anindya Chatterjee’s 2015 drama film Open Tee Bioscope. Over the years, he has starred in several films including Samantaral, Anusandhan, Vinci Da and the Bogla Mama Jug Jug Jiyo. The actor has also appeared in Bollywood films like Helicopter Eela opposite Kajol and in Kahaani co-starring Vidya Balan.
Kashyap, on the other hand, is set to star in the roles of villains in Disney+ Hotstar’s Bad Cop alongside Gulshan Devaiah and in the Telugu film Maharaja opposite Vijay Sethupathi.
