Comedian-actor Vir Das, who recently clinched an International Emmy Award for Netflix special Vir Das: Landing, is set to co-direct and star in an upcoming project in India, he announced on social media on Monday.
“Head back to India tomorrow. Very very happy to announce for the next three months I will NOT be touring. Get to sleep in the same bed. Have a routine. Plant some roots. Also...Co-direct and star in a movie,” wrote the 44-year-old on X (formerly Twitter).
Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani reacted to the announcement, expressing his wish to catch up with Vir after the latter returns to India. “Aaah… I see how you slipped that in. Meet up when you’re back,” commented Advani on Vir’s post.
Vir has also shared a video titled ‘Undeniable’, in which he glances back at his past struggles as a brown theatre graduate in America with four part-time jobs. “I’d assume...that I am one of the only or may be the only person with my accent to ever sell out the theatre,” says Das in the video while speaking to 3,900 fans at the Chicago Theatre.
“UNDENIABLE. It took me 22 years to make this video and to collect my money from America! Sorry if this is sentimental, it’s not often your struggle feels vindicated. Thank you to everyone who supported me,” wrote the comedian-actor on Monday, alongside his video on X.
Vir has appeared in a number of Bollywood films, including Shivaay (2016), Revolver Rani (2014), Go Goa Gone (2013), Delhi Belly (2011), Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Namastey London (2007), which marked his acting debut.
Vir Das portrayed Ronjon, an eccentric hotel owner, in Judd Apatow’s 2022 comedy film The Bubble. Besides, he was seen in an episode of Nahnatchka Khan’s ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat.
