12th Fail star Vikrant Massey attended the screening of the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-helmed biopic at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival in China recently, shows a video shared by the actor on Instagram on Tuesday.

"12th Fail was featured at the @shanghaiinternationalff this week, and we are deeply grateful for all the love we received from China. A heartfelt thank you to the Shanghai Film Festival committee for recognizing and celebrating the story of 12th Fail," Vikrant captioned his video on Instagram.

The video captures Vikrant walking into the Shanghai Grand Theater and interacting with the audience following the screening of the film. In the video, the actor emphasises how the film underlines the value of honesty and sincerity — the two ideals leading to success in the long run. The video ends with Vikrant posing with fans for pictures.

Previously, Vikrant had shared another video, noting that he missed Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s presence at the screening.

"Showcasing 12th Fail to the audiences in Shanghai, at the film festival has been a fabulous experience. Missed my Man Vidhu Vinod Chopra. But we will be back, the next time together," wrote Vikrant alongside the video, adding that the biopic will soon be released in Chinese theatres.

The film festival, which commenced on June 14, came to an end on June 23 in China's biggest city.

Based on a 2019 biography by Anurag Pathak, 12th Fail also stars Medha Shankr. The storyline revolves around the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to accomplish his dream of becoming an IPS officer. The movie was released theatrically on October 27 last year, before dropping on Disney+ Hotstar on December 29.

12th Fail garnered acclaim from numerous Bollywood stars including Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan. It also emerged as the highest-rated Indian film of all time on IMDb in December last year with a rating of 9.2 out of 10.

The film is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
