Hollywood star Tom Cruise left spectators in awe with a series of daring stunts at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Sunday night. Here is a look at the Top Gun actor’s moments at the Stade de France.
Dressed in a leather jacket and gloves, Cruise made the spectators gape when he jumped from the roof of the national stadium of France, apparently in a nod to his character Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible movies. Suspended in the air by hooks, the actor greeted the audience and set the tune for the next Olympics to be held in Los Angeles.
The 62-year-old actor, drenched in stadium lights, stood for a moment on the ledge before making the audacious jump. “That’s Tom Cruise! In full Hollywood style, actor Tom Cruise jumps from the roof into the stadium, taking the Olympic flag to Los Angeles! The next Olympic hosts for 2028,” wrote the official handle of the Olympics, sharing the photo.
Cruise also performed a motorcycle stunt inside the arena, with a flag fixed on the back of his vehicle. With a broad grin on his face, the actor exited the stadium in the two-wheeler, resembling an action movie sequence, amidst cheers from the crowd.
Believed to currently be filming Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two, Cruise held aloft the Olympic flag and waved it. The movie, whose production was delayed by the pandemic, is likely to release in May 2025.
Cruise, who also attended the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, clicked a selfie during the closing ceremony. “Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA,” he captioned the photo, sharing it on Instagram.
The actor drove past the Eiffel Tower in his motorcycle with the Olympics flag attached to the back of his two-wheeler. Earlier, in 2004, Cruise had carried the Olympic torch through Los Angeles as it travelled around the world, eventually reaching Athens, Greece, the host city for that year's games.
