Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides becomes the new leader of Arrakis and teams up with Zendaya’s Chani to save their desert planet from an impending war in the new trailer of Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two, dropped by Warner Bros. Pictures on Tuesday.
The two-minute-39-second-long video shows Paul, the leader of the people on his desert planet, uniting with Chani and the Fremen to exact revenge on the conspirators who destroyed his family. It begins with Timothée waking up from a nightmare with a sudden jolt and Chani comforting him. In his nightmare, Paul saw fragments of an imminent war that is about to break out in Arrakis, with huge sand worms wreaking havoc on a planetary scale.
The trailer offers a glimpse of Timothée and Zendaya’s intense onscreen romance. It also gives a quick look at new cast members like Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot, Austin Butler as the “psychotic” Feyd-Rautha and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV.
Dune: Part Two is directed by award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve who also helmed the 2021 film. The film series is adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1965 epic sci-fi novel of the same name. Co-written with Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve’s sequel is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick.
Dune: Part Two is slated to release in theatres on March 1, 2024.
