The Perfect Couple

Streaming from: September 5

The Perfect Couple is a mystery drama series featuring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Eve Hewson. It is based on Elin Hilderbrand's 2018 novel of the same name. The story centres on Amelia (played by Hewson), who is set to marry into the affluent Winbury family of Nantucket despite the disapproval of their matriarch Greer Garrison Winbury, a novelist played by Kidman. Meanwhile, the discovery of a body on the beach unravels hidden secrets, turning everyone into a suspect. The mystery series also features Ishaan Khatter in a key role.

Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 2

Created by Darren Star, Emily in Paris returns for its fourth season, bringing more drama and twists involving Emily (Lily Collins), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and Camille (Camille Razat). Season 4 Part 2 will continue from where the first part concluded. Emily has chosen Gabriel over Alfie, while Camille and Sofia (Melia Kreiling) have ended their relationship. Camille, who is not pregnant after all, decides to keep this information from Gabriel. There’s also a significant development at Gabriel’s restaurant. Luc’s (Bruno Gouery) girlfriend, Marianne (Laurence Gormezano), has been pretending to be a Michelin inspector for the past year after being fired, making Gabriel’s chances of earning a Michelin star bleak.

Uglies

Based on Scott Westerfeld’s novel of the same name, Uglies is a science fiction film directed by McG and featuring Joey King in the lead role. Set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian world, the story revolves around a society where everyone is labelled ‘ugly’ until they undergo drastic cosmetic surgery at the age of 16 to become ‘pretty’. The narrative follows Tally Youngblood (Joey King), a teenager who challenges the society’s imposed uniformity after her friends, Shay (Brianne Tju) and David (Keith Powers), expose the darker side of becoming a ‘pretty’.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

In the second chapter of the Monster anthology series, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan delve into another notorious case that rocked the United States in the 1990s. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story explores the dramatic tale of Lyle and Erik Menendez, who shot dead their parents on August 20, 1989. The series examines the events surrounding the horrific crime and the subsequent trials, during which the brothers claimed they were driven to murder by years of abuse. In contrast, the prosecution contended that their real motive was to inherit the family’s wealth. Both brothers were found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without the chance of parole.

Twilight of the Gods

Created by Zack Snyder, Twilight of the Gods is an animated series based on Norse mythology. It revolves around mortal king Leif (voiced by Stuart Martin), who is rescued in combat by the formidable warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks). As they fall in love and marry, their union is shattered on their wedding night by Thor’s (Pilou Asbæk) vengeful rage. This sets them and their band of crusaders on a relentless quest for retribution, facing insurmountable challenges. This epic tale of romance, grief, and revenge takes them through infernal landscapes, fierce and bloody battlefields, and wars against gods and monsters.

His Three Daughters

His Three Daughters is a family drama directed and written by Azazel Jacobs. The film features Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne, and Elizabeth Olsen as three sisters who reunite to care for their ailing father. The cast also includes Rudy Galvan, Jose Febus, Jasmine Bracey, Jay O. Sanders, and Jovan Adepo. His Three Daughters premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 and is set to hit select U.S. theatres on September 6, before streaming on Netflix.

Nobody Wants This

Streaming from: September 26

Nobody Wants This, created by Erin Foster, is a comedy series featuring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as Joanne and Noah, an unlikely pair who are brought together by fate. Noah, a cautious rabbi stuck in his routine, experiences a shift in his predictable life when he meets Joanne, a brutally honest woman. Joining Bell and Brody are Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons, who play Morgan and Sasha, respectively. Morgan is Joanne’s witty and charismatic sister, while Sasha is Noah’s flamboyant and eccentric older brother.

Will & Harper

Streaming from: September 27

Will Ferrell joined the cast of Saturday Night Live around the same time that Harper Steele was brought on as a writer. Over a period of three decades, the two became close collaborators, with Steele crafting many of Ferrell’s most memorable characters and sketches. Their professional bond blossomed into a long-lasting friendship. When Ferrell learned that his friend was transitioning to a trans woman, they set off on a cross-country road trip to navigate this new chapter in their relationship. This journey is the focus of the new documentary film Will & Harper, directed by Josh Greenbaum. The film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
