Streaming platform Max has dropped a new teaser for The Penguin, a Batman spinoff series focusing on a Gotham City gangster played by Colin Farell.
The two-minute-15-second-long teaser, released on Thursday, includes scenes that pick up right after the events at the end of Matt Reeves’ 2022 blockbuster The Batman. Farrell reprises his role as Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin in the series that charts his rise from a disfigured nobody to a notorious Gotham gangster.
In the movie, The Penguin was a lieutenant to crime boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), who met an untimely end. In the crime thriller series, however, The Penguin steps up to lead crime in Gotham City after Falcone’s death.
The teaser features Michael Zegen as Falcone's son Alberto and Cristin Milioti as the late Don's daughter Sofia. “The family thinks I am broken but I am not,” says Sofia as she engages in a fierce power struggle with Farrell’s gangster. The teaser also features Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Clancy Brown and Carmen Ejogo.
Set immediately after the events of the 2022 blockbuster film, the eight-episode series is slated to premiere on Max in September. For Indian viewers, the show will reportedly be available to stream on Prime Video.
Executive producers of The Penguin include Reeves, Farrell, Dylan Clark, LeFranc, Craig Zobel and Bill Carraro.
