Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story is releasing in more than 40 countries today, director Sudipto Sen has announced, calling it a new chapter in the film’s journey.
“More than 6000,000 people have seen this film so far in India. A new chapter begins today. THE KERALA STORY is releasing in more than 40-countries together... More and more numbers are going to get added. More and more blessings, love and adulation will overwhelm us. We shall feel more responsible. More humble. More blessed," the filmmaker wrote on Twitter on Friday.
Despite controversies surrounding the film, The Kerala Story continues its dream run at the box office in India. The total domestic box office collection of the film in the first week was Rs 80.6 crore nett, according to Box Office India.
The Kerala Story registered an opening day collection of Rs 8 crore nett on May 5, followed by Rs 27.62 crore nett over the weekend. The film maintained its momentum even on the weekdays, with a collection of Rs 10 crore nett on Monday, Rs 11.14 crore nett on Tuesday, Rs 12 crore nett on Wednesday and Rs 11.75 crore nett on Thursday.
