Dev-starrer Tekka, a nerve-wracking hostage thriller directed by Srijit Mukherji, is set to stream on Hoichoi from December 27, the streaming platform announced on Sunday.
“There is only stubbornness, no trickery. If Golam enters the field, chaos will ensue! #Tekka directed by @srijitspeaketh premiering digitally worldwide on 27th December, only on #hoichoi!,” Hoichoi wrote on X alongside a poster of the film.
Based on a story penned by Bhaskar Chattopadhyay and co-written by Srijit Mukherji, Tekka hit theatres on October 8. It follows the story of a man who loses his job and takes people hostage in a desperate bid to reclaim his right to life and livelihood. It weaves a parallel narrative when Ira (Swastika Mukherjee), the kidnapped girl’s mother, takes Iqlakh’s (Dev) young son hostage. The film features an ensemble cast of Rukmini Maitra, Sreeja Dutta, Sujan Mukherjee and Aryann Bhowmik.
“The story of Iqlakh, a janitor who lost his job and is trying to get it back by holding a girl hostage. Things get complicated when the girl's mother, Pooja, kidnaps Iqlakh's son Guddu, creating a stalemate between the parents,” reads the synopsis on IMDb.
Produced by Gurupada Adhikari and Dev under the banner of Dev Entertainment Ventures, the film has its world TV premiere on Star Jalsa on December 22.
Tekka marks a reunion between actor Dev and director Srijit Mukherji after the 2016 film Zulfiqar. While Modhura Palit served as the cinematographer for Tekka, the music was scored by Anupam Roy and Ranajoy Bhattacharjee.
Dev was recently seen in Khadaan. The film, directed by Soojit Dutta and co-starring Jisshu Sengupta, is currently running in cinemas.
