The Kerala Story opened to an average collection of Rs 8 crore nett but gained momentum due to word-of-mouth publicity. The film earned Rs 81 crore nett during its first week in theatres and added another Rs 90 crore nett to its collection in the second week.

The film made a single-digit earning on its third Friday (Rs 6.6 crore nett) and third Saturday (Rs 9.15 crore nett) but was back in double digits on third Sunday (Rs 11.15 crore nett). Despite competition from Vin Diesel’s Fast X, The Kerala Story manages to maintain its hold in cinemas.

The Kerala Story is the second-highest grossing Hindi movie of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, and is set to become the only movie apart from the Siddharth Anand-helmed spy action thriller to cross the Rs 200-crore mark at the box office.

Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 147 crore nett) and Salman Khan’s Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 112 crore nett) are the only other Hindi films to cross the Rs 100-crore mark in 2023.
