Nick Jonas’s Renn Wheeland embarks on a journey of healing following the death of his mother in the trailer of The Good Half, dropped by the makers on Friday.
The two-minute-36-second-long begins with Renn travelling back home to Cleveland for his mother’s funeral. On the way, he forges a new relationship with fellow passenger Zoey (Alexandra Shipp). When Renn visits his grieving family, he tries to mend his relationship with his overbearing sister Leigh (Brittany Snow).
While collecting his mother’s belongings from the hospital, Renn recalls his childhood spent with her. The trailer also shows how Renn confronts his past and confronts his stepfather (David Arquette) with some assistance from his real father (Matt Walsh).
At the end of the trailer, Nick realises that there have always been two halves of his life — a good one and a bad one. His sister, on the other hand, is heard saying she wouldn’t trade the good half of her life for the whole world.
Directed by Robert Schwartzman, The Good Half is penned by Brett Ryland. It premiered in 2023 at the Tribeca Festival.
